This is the car setup development guide. This guide will help you through the complete process of setting up a car from scratch.

Continue to the first step or jump to specific sections of the guide. We recommend walking through each section.

If you need to solve specific issues you may want to try the Setup Problem Guide

  • Nothing to complain about!

Weight Setup 1/1

We can create more traction on corner exit by moving the weight of the car more to the back. Also by doing so you will have less chance of overheating the front tyres. Eventually you will be faster in and out of the corners.
Moving the weight more to the rear, what effect does this have?

MINOR UNDERSTEER

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Go back to the Spring setup to restore the balance in the car

  • Move more weight to the rear with small steps.

Tyre Setup 1/1

The more contact the rubber has to the tarmac the more grip you produce. Due to camber, toe, tyre pressure and tyre compound tyres can have different temperatures.

The tyre setup is something you have to keep a close look on everytime you change your setup and everytime the weather in your game changes.

We measure tyres at the outside (O), middle (M) and inside (I). The difference between each may vary around 5 degrees. So a tyre with a temp of 85(O) 80(M) 80(I) is okay.

Take a look at your tyres. From outside to middle to inside, what is the temperature output? (O)utside, (M)iddle, (I)nside

O IS MORE THEN 10 DEGREES HOTTER THEN M

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Increase the negative camber

M IS MORE THEN 10 DEGREES HOTTER THEN O AND I

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Decrease tyre pressure

M IS LESS THEN 10 DEGREES HOTTER THEN O AND I

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Increase tyre pressure

O, M AND I ARE ALL TO HOT

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Change to a harder compound

O, M AND I ARE ALL TO COLD

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Change to softer compound

I IS MORE THEN 10 DEGREES HOTTER THEN M

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Decrease negative camber

Caster Setup 1/1

Caster is the fore or aft slope of the steering axis. Positive caster is when the bottom of the steering axis line is in front of the tire's contact patch. Zero caster is when the steering axis is at 0 degrees.
High static camber minimizes the contact with the tarmac under braking and on the inside tyre when cornering. This is where changing the caster can help.

Decrease 1 or 2 steps negative camber on the front and replace this with 2 degrees of caster.
What change do you feel?

LESS FRONT GRIP

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Reset to the old camber settings and only set 1 degree of caster.

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • It looks like we are getting more grip by removing camber, continue on adding more caster until you are completely satisfied. Use small steps.

NO CHANGE

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Try some bigger adjustments or reset to the old situation

ONLY GETS WORSE

Try one of the following steps to fix your problem. Adjust only one setting with small steps. Run a few laps to see if the problem is solved, otherwise adjust the setting slightly again or try the next setting in line.

  • Decrease caster instead of increasing

Toe Setup 1/3

Toe is the angle the tires are rotated around their vertical axis, looking at them from above the car. You have no toe if the tires are parallel to each other, along the direction of the car. You have toe-in when the tires point in towards each other, and toe-out when they point away from each other
What is the reaction of the car on turn in?
